What to know about Abiqua Falls in Oregon
Abiqua Falls, a 92-foot cascade and the surrounding 40-acre property, is up for sale.
An independently produced film by Oregon native and cult icon Bruce Campbell had its world premiere in Medford on Feb. 14.
The film, titled “Ernie & Emma,” had its Valentine’s Day debut at Medford’s historic Holly Theatre. It tells the story of a small-town Oregon pear salesman navigating love, loss and second chances after the death of his wife.
Campbell, who lives in Jacksonville and is known for his role as Ash in the “Evil Dead” franchise and his frequent collaborations with Sam Raimi, wrote, directed and starred in the film, which “marks a deeply personal departure from his genre roots,” according to a release.
The movie was filmed entirely in southern Oregon and features regional landmarks, including the Big Foot Trap, and local talent. The production process highlights “Campbell’s decision to step outside the studio system and make a film on his own terms, in his own backyard,” according to the release.
Campbell was joined by producer Ida Gearon and actress Cerina Vincent to greet fans and discuss the independent filmmaking process during the film’s premiere.
“Ernie & Emma” will have another screening at Portland’s Hollywood Theatre on April 4.
