Hollywood is having what I can only describe as an “AP Lit moment,” making blockbuster flicks about the classics we read (or perhaps, pretended to read) in high school. With last year’s releases of “Frankenstein” and “Hamnet” and last week’s premiere of “Wuthering Heights,” new movies about old books are in, baby.
Of course, the real deal will never go out of style, and if you’re looking for an IRL version of the book “Wuthering Heights,” consider this embossed, gold foil-stamped 2024 reprint your next required reading. Especially when it costs under $20 and frankly, boasts better reviews than the movie.
From the New York-based Peter Pauper Press, this “Masterpiece Library Edition” of Emily Brontë’s iconic 1847 novel looks like a Victorian art piece, only with “very readable text” and a near perfect rating.
If you’re not up on box office drama — director Emerald Fennell’s much-awaited 2026 movie version of “Wuthering Heights” starring Margot Robbie and (notable big reader) Jacob Elordi has gained…mixed (read: bad) reviews.
It goes without saying that if you loved the movie, we love that for you. Yet, critics from the likes of The New York Times and The New Yorker were not impressed. Review site Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an indeed rotten 59% out of 100. Which, in a real AP Lit class, would be an F.
To put our AP statistics hat on for a second, the Peter Pauper book version earned a 4.8 out of 5-star rating on Amazon, which converts to 96% out of 100. That’s a perfect A.

The vintage-inspired version features an embossed hardcover, a stamped spine and gold-foiled, cream-colored pages with masterfully designed font spacing. Readers are surprised by the heft of the book, saying it exceeded their expectations, especially for its price. The print comes with a matching satin ribbon bookmark, making the purchase even more giftable, for yourself or your most beloved bookworm.
Reviewer Azkiell said they purchased the copy for their mother’s birthday, calling it a “beautiful edition of an even more beautiful novel.”
”[My mother] is a long time fan of classical literature and we share this passion,” they wrote. ”…We both absolutely adored this edition when it turned up.”
Apart from the words themselves, fans say the book is so gorgeous they’re using it for home decor.
Whether you’ve already read it, hope to re-read it yearly or never plan to crack it open — reviewers agree this issue of “Wuthering Heights” makes an elegant addition to any space. “Will definitely be a keepsake for years to come,” one wrote.
Another reviewer called the edition an “amazing print of a story I really just can’t gaf about no matter how hard I try,” joking, “five stars because this edition is beautiful, but I’ll be honest, I’m just not a fan of Wuthering Heights.”
Still, fans of the book and fans of beautiful things can agree that this $20 option is an affordable way to bring a little Victorian-inspired media into 2026.
