Solvang’s tourism-driven economy remains strong but is showing signs of structural change, city officials said at the Santa Ynez Valley Economic Summit, where early discussions about forming a downtown business improvement district emerged as a central topic.
According to city data, annual visitation in Solvang has declined modestly from about 5.3 million visitors in 2022 to roughly 5.0 million in 2025. Over the same period, transient occupancy tax (TOT) revenue rose from approximately $6.25 million to more than $8 million, before settling at about $7.3 million in the current fiscal year.
The Santa Ynez Valley Economic Summit highlighted seasonal tourism patterns, with January and February remaining the slowest months.
