San Diego is working to attract more movie productions to the area, that could pump billions of dollars into the local economy.
County leaders have been presented with a plan to help keep the area’s film office and commission thriving says County Supervisor Paloma Aguirre.
The initiative would require a one time, 100-thousand dollar investment, that would be funded by a grant.
The Film Commission operated in San Diego from the mid 1970’s until 2013, bringing such high profile projects such as Top Gun and the hit TV series Simon & Simon to the area.
Most recently, this year’s Best Picture Oscar winner, One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, was filmed across San Diego County, pumping nearly 7-million dollars into the local economy.
