Midnight margaritas and “Wonderwall”? That’s what I’m talking about. This week sees the reunions of both Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman and the Gallaghers Noel and Liam on the big screen. There’s also another season of the Dunder Mifflin spinoff, Na Hong-jin’s bonkers creature thriller, and more to watch.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as the sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, respectively. Still dealing with their family curse, the two must console Sally’s daughters Kylie (Joey King) and Antonia (Maisie Williams) after they become aware of their family’s powers when Kylie’s boyfriend Gideon (Xolo Maridueña) is badly injured. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest also return, while Lee Pace joins as a new love interest (potentially … hopefully).
Soon after its premiere at Venice Film Festival, the Oasis doc is in Imax this weekend ahead of its launch on streaming, and as Bilge Ebiri wrote, it is worth seeing in a theater. Eschewing Liam and Noel Gallagher’s 2009 split, Don’t Look Back in Anger picks up soon after their reconnection and heads straight into rehearsals for the 2025 tour. Incredibly moving, it bounces from concert footage to interviews with the brothers and deeply affected fans.
After its Cannes premiere, critic Alison Willmore said Hope has “spectacular action sequences and thuddingly obvious points about xenophobia.” South Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin’s sci-fi thriller follows a pair of officers (Hwang Jung-min and Hoyeon) who investigate a small village decimated by unknown creatures. Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, and Taylor Russell also star.

Another season with the staff of the Toledo Truth Teller. After winning at the Ohio Journalism Awards, Ned (Domhnall Gleeson) is more optimistic than ever at getting his staff to chase bigger stories, all while juggling his new complicated relationship with fellow reporter Mare (Chelsea Frei). This season will feature guest appearances from Jon Lovitz, Andy Richter, Toks Olagundoye, and more.
A spinoff of Snowfall, The Drop fast-forwards to the ’90s and follows Snowfall characters Wanda-Bell and Leon Simmons (Gail Bean and Isaiah John). Wanda-Bell enlists her cousins Lamar (Asante Blackk) and James (Peyton Alex Smith) as she tries to step into L.A.’s rap scene.
The Baltimore-born comedian Stavros Halkias, who came to fame through the dirtbag-left comedy pod Cum Town (and now hosts Stavvy’s World), returns with his second special taped at his hometown club, the Lyric, and directed by Tony’s Matt Johnson. —Nicholas Quah
