What began as a simple love for reading has blossomed into an extraordinary achievement for a young girl from Phoenix. Seven-year-old Shreya Azaria Mohanlall has officially published her debut book, ‘My Book of Phobias’, marking an impressive entry into the world of young authors.
Shreya’s mother, Shantal Mohanlall, said her daughter’s passion for reading and learning became evident at an early age. Shreya started reading fluently at the age of three.
“She was always thirsty for knowledge, always asking questions, researching on her computer, and writing about everything she learned,” she shared.
From a young age, Shreya’s curiosity about the world sparked a habit of researching topics that fascinated her. This curiosity soon evolved into small research projects, handwritten notes, and homemade storybooks that she proudly created at home.
Wanting to nurture her daughter’s creativity, Shantal took the extra step of having one of Shreya’s handmade books illustrated, edited, formatted, and professionally printed. The goal was to show her daughter that dreams can become reality through dedication and hard work.

During her time at Palmview Primary School, Shreya actively participated in a variety of extracurricular activities. She excelled in both the spelling whizz and speech contests and consistently ranked among the top three pupils in her class for three consecutive years.
Now a pupil at Whetstone Primary School, Shreya has already immersed herself in school life, eagerly volunteering for extracurricular opportunities and continuing to pursue her passion for learning.
Her book, ‘My Book of Phobias’, is available through Amazon via its Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing platform, with printed copies also available for purchase. However, Shreya’s achievement goes beyond publishing a book.
The young author hopes to donate copies to local schools, encouraging other children to discover the joy of reading and learning. To help make this vision possible, the Mohanlall family is appealing to local businesses and community members for sponsorship to fund the distribution of books to classrooms.
Supporters say contributions will not only help place books in the hands of young readers but will also uplift a budding author who hopes to inspire others. At just seven-years-old, Shreya Mohanlall is already demonstrating the power of early literacy, curiosity, and determination – and this young writer’s journey is only just beginning.
