There is just something fascinating about watching a dog watch TV. Their reactions almost always seem to reflect their personalities, just like any other enduring thing our canine companions do.

Well, one dog has seen a lot of movies, and to say that he has gotten a little “too” invested in what happens on screen is an understatement, as this Instagram video shows.

From Alice in Wonderland to Jurassic World and Coraline, this dog has seen it all. And each and every time, he is practically glued to the screen, rapt with attention.

Some Instagram viewers joke that this good boy should receive some sort of award for being the dog who has watched the most movies.

Others simply commented that this dog is definitely “invested” in what he watches, while others joked that he is a true canine cinephile.

Some viewers even joked that this dog was so invested in these movies that they were surprised he had not attacked and broken the TV yet.

Can Dogs Really Get ‘Invested’ in Movies and TV Shows?

Researchers have found that dogs can get just as into movies and TV as humans. However, not every dog will be interested in every type of movie or show.

Depending on their personality, some shows or movies might really keep their interest, while other programs will mean nothing to them at all.

A study that sampled 453 dogs tried to determine exactly what kinds of TV shows dogs naturally engaged with, along with how they engaged with the shows, from wagging their tail and barking to behaving as if what they were seeing on screen was real.

Interestingly, these dogs were most stimulated by seeing other dogs on screen. That included when they heard a dog in a movie or TV show barking off-screen.

Many dogs also followed physical things they saw on screen as though those objects were in the same room as them.

The study also found that a dog’s personality, how excitable they were or prone to anxiety and overstimulation, determined whether or not they actually enjoyed watching movies or TV, or if the experience simply stressed them out.

So, having a nervous dog watch TV is probably not a good idea. In all likelihood, the experience will just stress them out.

But a more energetic dog might enjoy watching wildlife documentaries or even something with lots of consistent movement, like a tennis match.
