Entrepreneurs will take centre stage when the Barbados Small Business Association (SBA) hosts the 21st edition of Small Business Week, from September 22 to 28.
The theme of the week this year is “Celebrating our Achievements, Striving for Excellence”, and the week begins with a church service tomorrow, Sunday, September 22, at the St Patrick’s Cathedral, Jemmotts Lane, St Michael, from 10:00 am.
The “X Leo Leacock Memorial Lecture” will be held on Tuesday, September 24, at the Walcott Warner Theatre, Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, beginning at 7:00 pm. St Lucia’s Opposition Leader, Allen Chastanet, will speak on Small Business as a Catalyser for Economic Growth – A Discussion on Creativity, Capital and Culture.
On Wednesday, September 25, from 10:00 am to noon, there will be a Regional Colloquium (Webinar). The keynote speaker will be Vice President (Ag.) of Operations at the Caribbean Development Bank, Therese Turner-Jones, while the panellists will be Chief Operating Officer, FIDUCIA, Lagos, Nigeria, Chukwuka Amadife; Managing Director of NEX Consulting, Dominican Republic, Taiana Mora; and Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Five Islands Campus, The UWI, Professor Justin Robinson. The moderator will be Chief Executive Officer of the SBA, Dr. Lynette Holder. The key topics to be discussed are Economic Development Policy; Trade Facilitation; Access to Finance; and Transport and Logistics.

A Youth Event will be held on Thursday, September 26, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael, from 9:30 a.m. The SBA’s Annual General Meeting will also be held online that day.
The celebrations will culminate on Friday, September 27, with an Awards Event, at the Savannah Beach Hotel, in Hastings, Christ Church.
