Text Book Centre (TBC), East and Central Africa’s preeminent Educational, Cultural, and Technological Content and Products Distributor, has opened its 13th branch in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
During the launch, TBC CEO Sachin Varma said Kiambu County had witnessed tremendous growth in the education sector, becoming a hub for academic excellence. With a rise in educational institutions from primary to tertiary levels, the demand for quality educational resources has always remained the same.
“Our presence here in Ruiru is a testament to our commitment to support this growth, ensuring that students and educators have access to the best materials and resources,” said Varma.
Beyond books, art and stationery, the firm also offers a wide range of tech products, including laptops, printers, and other essential electronic devices.
Text Book Centre in Kiambu County
Ruiru is one of the fastest-growing towns in Kiambu County, strategically positioned with a vibrant community that values education and technological advancement.
“We are glad that by Text Book Centre opening their doors here, they are providing our dynamic population with the tools they need to succeed, whether in academics or their professional lives,” said Emily Nyaga, Deputy Director of Education, Kiambu County.

Education budget allocation
Over the years, TBC has played a pivotal role in the education sector by distributing educational books to primary, secondary, and tertiary students and individuals. It garnered substantial recognition in-store, corporately, and online, particularly during the primary back-to-school season.
In 2024, the education sector received the largest share of the national budget, with a total allocation of KSh 628.6 billion for the 2023-24 financial year, representing 27.4 percent of planned national expenditure.
In December, 2023 Text Book Centre launched ‘Masaa ya Ushindi’ Back to School Campaign offering customers the opportunity to win school fees worth KSh50,000 every week and a grand prize of KSh100,000 worth of school fees to one lucky winner.
