Washington state leaders on Monday shared a new website that corrals the federal and state grants, tax incentives and rebates that are available to help businesses, individuals, tribal groups, nonprofits and government agencies seeking support in implementing and developing climate friendly technologies.
The FundHubWA site pulls together the opportunities available through three federal laws — the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — as well as Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, a measure that charges the state’s largest polluters for their emissions and allocates the money to climate programs.
Searching as a “utility” under the “energy infrastructure” category, for example, pulled up options including a U.S. Department of Energy program providing grants for developing solar energy hardware and software.
Another search as a “business” in the “manufacturing” category came back with two programs, one from DOE and another with the Internal Revenue Service offering tax incentives for clean energy projects including alternative fuel production, sustainable aviation, nuclear power production and other low-carbon technologies.
“We don’t want anyone to miss out on an opportunity simply because they don’t know about it,” said Gov. Jay Inslee in a statement. “This portal offers everyone an easy way to browse for funding that could help them improve their home, business or community.”
Earlier this year, a group supporting the Climate Commitment Act released an interactive, online map highlighting the programs being funded across the state with dollars collected through the act.
In November, Washington residents will vote on Initiative 2117, which would eliminate the CCA. Initiative backers say the act is driving up gas prices in the state.
