The 2024 general election in Idaho on November 5 is about more than the highest office in the United States, although that race will likely dominate news feeds for days, weeks or even months.
Both of Idaho’s representatives to the U.S. House, the entire Idaho Legislature, county offices and dozens of funding proposals are on the ballot in the Gem State.
To see candidates for a particular race, go to the chapter bar at the top of this story, scroll sideways to find the one you’re interested in, and select that chapter link. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order.
A major change this year comes after the Idaho Legislature changed election law in 2023 to remove the March election day for school districts.
The 2024 Idaho Legislature voted to remove the August election date this past session as well.
In previous years, school districts had typically used March and August election days rather than the dates in May and November.
That means there are races and issues on the ballot this year that Idahoans might not be used to seeing in November.
Reminder: Taxing districts, such as schools and fire protection districts, can contain residents in multiple counties.
Only contested races are listed below.
School Districts:
Multiple school districts are running levy elections in November. The Idaho Legislature passed laws in 2023 and 2024 requiring school districts to place issues on the May and November ballots in Idaho. Previously, districts would typically use the March and August election dates.
