One of the most successful horror films from 2019 has finally arrived on BBC iPlayer just in time for Halloween season.
Us is only the second movie Jordan Peele directed, however the psychological horror broke records within a weeks of its release five years ago.
Starring Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Elisabeth Moss the film boasts an impressive 93% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and fans can finally watch the scary film for free.
The plot follows the Wilson family as they take a holiday to Santa Cruz, California.
However night four strangers break into Adelaide‘s (Lupita) childhood home, and the family are shocked to find out that the intruders are horrifying clones.
At the time of its release in 2019 the film received a massive opening weekend with an impressive $7.4 million from Thursday sneak peeks.
It then took a whopping $70.3 million at the domestic box office and became the title holder for the biggest opening weekend for an original horror movie.
Following the remake of It and 2018’s Halloween, Us is also became the third best horror opening of all time.
This achievement was done with only a $20 million budget used to make the film.
The $7.4 million Thursday haul Us earned is more than three times the $1.8 million that Get Out made in Thursday sneaks.
Fans were overjoyed to see the film had been added as they wrote: ‘Just rewatched Us on bbc iPlayer right now.
‘Honestly one of my favourite horror films. Funny, upsetting, and genuinely scary’;
‘Well anyway, I managed to catch up watching Jordan Peele’s Us via BBC iPlayer and I can safely say that out of his three horror films he directed so far, that’s the weirdest I’ve ever seen’.
Meanwhile Lupita bagged several Best Actress awards for her role in the film including those from the Hollywood Critics Association and African-American Film Critics Association.
Jordan was also honoured with a Best Director award from the African-American Film Critics Association.
The director’s first film was Get Out, which went on to gross $33.4 million during its first weekend and made $176 million total in North America.
The revolutionary film won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2017, making Jordan the first African American to win the esteemed honor.
