The United Way of the Wabash Valley has launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Clay County, expanding access to free books for children as part of its mission to support early childhood education.
Clay County infants to children age 5 can now be enrolled in the program and receive one book per month at no cost to families. Books are personalized with the child’s name and mailed directly to the home.
The Imagination Library is made possible in Clay County by funds from the Talking Is Teaching program.
Dorothy Chambers, UWWV Community Impact Director, said, “The Dolly Parton Imagination Library not only builds a lifelong love of reading, but it also helps build foundational skills that are crucial for a child’s success in school and life. Reading stories aloud to young children, starting at birth, is one of the most important activities caregivers can engage in. United Way is honored to be a local partner in Vigo and Clay counties for this well-loved program.”
United Way also administers the Imagination Library in Vigo County. Visit imaginationlibrary.com to complete the registration process.
