For three decades, the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce has tried to keep the nation’s film industry aware of the opportunities for filming in Yuba and Sutter counties. The most successful of such efforts is currently at risk, however, after the collapse of a local lodging association designed to help promote the community through tax revenue from hotel stays.
Film Yuba-Sutter, overseen by the Upstate California Film Commission, is recognized as the official advocate for filming in Yuba County and Sutter County. The organization has been funded by “transit occupancy tax” revenues directed by the Yuba Sutter Lodging Association and through contributions by some local government agencies.
