Fujairah: The inaugural Fujairah Children’s Book Fair, hosted at the Al Bayt Mitwahid Hall has notified a significant surge in visitors on its fourth day, particularly among school groups attending the morning sessions. Fujairah Children’s Book Fair is managed seamlessly, allowing visitors easy access to various zones and workshops, presenting a diverse scope of activities.
Among the highlights were interactive workshops on UAE Sana’a and the Japanese art of origami, where children and families experienced hands-on learning experiences. On the third day, they also featured panel discussions highlighting young and child authors who shared their knowledge, along with stories focusing on individuals of determination. Fascinating storytelling sessions were held, aimed at inspiring children and expanding their creative thinking.
With its theme, “Create the Future with Imagination,” Fujairah Children’s Book Fair incorporated cultural, educational, and entertainment activities, catching the attention of young minds and families alike. Three key panel discussions took place, forming a session on tactile books for children of determination, moderated by Mohammad Alyammahi, featuring authors Fatima Al-Rashed and Nadia Al Najjar. They analyzed how tactile books improve learning for visually impaired children and shared insights into making these aids more accessible.
A second panel, “Children’s Books: From Imitation to Creation,” discussed the evolution of children’s literature in the Arab world, mediated by Mohammed Al Jaghbeir. Speakers, including poet Ali Al-Shaali and experts Dr. Aisha Al-Ghais and Dr. Alaa Al-Najem, addressed the balance between creativity and tradition in children’s books, remarking the growing role of imagery in modern literature. They also underscored the expanding publishing industry in the UAE.
The final panel, “Young Author,” showcased young writers Ammar Al Marzouqi, AlDana Alhamoudi, and Sandy Hani, who transferred their creative journeys, offering insight into the inspirations behind their stories.
Workshops at the Dar Al Muheet Publishing House booth included a session by visual artist Shaima Al Kilani, where kids learned how to create books and artistic shapes using origami. The hands-on workshop inspired creativity and the use of available materials to produce educational and creative pieces. Another workshop on UAE Sana’a customs, led by researcher Abdullah Salem Al Kindi, studied the traditions and etiquette of Emirati majlis gatherings, showing visitors a glimpse into local culture.
The Philosophy House booth hosted a series of interactive sessions, including a ‘Young Diplomat’ workshop, teaching children the skills needed to make a positive impact in society, alongside another philosophical seminar designed to foster critical thinking in an engaging, discussion-based format. Fujairah Children’s Book Fair continues to serve as a platform for fostering fantasy and creativity among young minds, with a focus on educational and cultural development.
