Also, will she find love most unexpectedly? Let’s find out.
Spoiler Alert
Were Leo and Nelly about to become parents?
The last thing Princess expected on her birthday was to meet her former husband’s new girlfriend, Nelly. Tumi was in a casual relationship with Sabela. While she wanted to keep it no-strings-attached, Sabela wanted more from the relationship. He decided to introduce Tumi to his sister, Nelly. Tumi was surprised and a little disappointed in Sabela for not considering her opinion. Tumi ultimately allowed Nelly to join them as they headed to Princess’ mother’s villa. Meanwhile, Princess, who had been relaxing at her mother’s villa, was suddenly disturbed by a bunch of people. They claimed to be cooks and decorators that Tumi had sent for her birthday bash. She felt overwhelmed, but she did not know what to do. Nelly and Sabela’s common friend, Tony, joined the party to find out if Tumi was the right fit for Sabela, and social media influencer, Fifi, tagged along with him. Just when Princess tried to make peace with the fact that she had a bunch of random strangers in her house, she saw Nelly hugging Leo. She realized her ex-husband was dating Sabela’s sister, Nelly, and she freaked out. She figured she needed some peace, so she packed her bags and tried to leave, but as luck would have it, it was raining heavily that night.
The next morning, Tumi had a word with Princess, and Princess explained why she so desperately needed to be alone. She did not wish to hurt Tumi; she was overwhelmed and heartbroken. Tumi tried to reason with her. She thought Princess’ success called for a grand celebration, and they finally agreed to a simple dinner party. Even though it was not easy for Princess to accept Leo and Nelly’s relationship, she decided to make peace with it. Though there were moments when she crossed the line, she realized her mistakes sooner than later.
During the birthday weekend, Princess noticed Nelly throwing up every morning, and she realized that Nelly was pregnant. But Nelly was not ready to become a mother yet, or at least she had not made up her mind. Instead of letting Nelly deal with her problem on her own, Princess, through a game of dumb charades, revealed the truth to Leo. Leo was disappointed in Nelly for hiding such a secret. Princess realized her mistake and apologized to Leo. She also tried to make it up to Nelly, but she could not overcome her ego. Nelly left the next morning, and Princess realized how deeply Leo was in love with her. Even though she always thought she was the one for him, he considered Nelly his muse, and he believed it was because of her that he got over his addiction problem.
During Happiness Is’ ending, when Leo and Nelly met again, Nelly confessed that she was scared. They were both recovering addicts, and she was not sure if they should have a child. Leo promised to support Nelly no matter what she decided, and he believed that as long as she was with him, there was hope. Nelly and Leo had Princess’ blessing. She even offered them three tickets to a K-pop show to accompany Thandi (Princess and Leo’s daughter) and go together as a family. Nelly considered becoming a mother. She and Leo were in love, and he helped her believe that they were ready to start a family together.
Did Tumi and Sabela end up together?
Sabela’s ex-girlfriend had been disloyal to him, and he was afraid of going through that pain again. He felt hopeful after getting into a relationship with Tumi. He loved her, and he hoped that someday she would be ready for a serious relationship. During the birthday weekend, Sabela could sense that Tumi felt jealous whenever he got close to Fifi, yet she refused to confess that she was in love. She was so afraid of commitment that she brought along the guy she met during zip-lining. We later discovered that it was not just a commitment that she feared; in her previous marriage, when she and her husband were trying to conceive, she had found out that she had biological complications. She feared she would not be able to start a family with Sabela, and she did not want him to leave her as her ex did. She was not ready for another heartbreak, and that was why she did not want them to get into a serious relationship.
At Princess’ birthday party, a very drunk Tumi got into an argument with Sabela and Fifi. The birthday party turned into a mess when Princess and Tumi started to get a little too honest with each other. Tumi thought her best friend was ungrateful to her after she threw her a lavish party, and she was tired of watching her obsess over her ex. Princess refused to stay quiet; she added that Tumi was no different because she too stalked her ex-husband regularly on social media. Sabela was devastated, and he ended up popping an edible to cope with the situation. The next morning, Sabela was found in a cave, and he was brought back home. Princess regretted the silly public fight she and Tumi got into. She decided she had to step in to bring Tumi and Sabela together. With Tony’s help, she locked the couple in the wine cellar to have a heart-to-heart conversation.
In Happiness Is’ ending, Tumi confessed her biggest fear to Sabela. She admitted that she was afraid of getting her heart broken again. Sabela reminded her that he had been cheated on in his previous relationship and that he would never do that to anyone. Tumi realized that she had been too harsh on Sabela, and she added that she was scared when he went missing after the party because she could not imagine her life without him. Tumi finally expressed that she loved him and was about to tell him about her medical condition, but Sabela did not care. As long as he got to be with her, he was happy. The two finally overcame their fears and decided to be together.
Did Princess find love?
When two people argue the first time they meet in a rom-com, it is a clear indication that they will fall in love! The same happened with Princess and Chef Mawethu. They crossed paths when Princess was driving to her mother’s villa. The first time they met, it was anything but pleasant, but things changed when Mawethu joined Princess and her guests as their personal chef. Princess found a friend in Mawethu when she felt overwhelmed by the Leo-Nelly situation. She realized she could talk to him for hours and he would patiently listen. At Princess’s birthday party, when Mawethu and Princess got physically intimate, she stopped him. She thought she was rushing into another relationship without thinking it through. She was afraid of making a mistake and she needed time. Mawethu was understanding of her situation.
The next morning, as everyone tried to overcome their differences, Princess decided maybe it was time she moved on. As she turned forty, she realized that her life was enough and that she was enough. But that did not mean she was not interested in experiencing love again; it simply meant that she did not intend to depend on anyone else to validate her existence. In the final scene of Happiness Is, Princess and Tumi agreed that their forties would mark the beginning of their lives. Princess followed Mawethu to the living room, and we can assume she will give their relationship a chance. Forties surely looks good on Princess, and even if she does not find love, we know that she will still be her fabulous self nonetheless.
