If you like the feeling of pouring your money down the toilet, you can pick up a copy of Boris Johnson‘s newly-released memoir.
Alternatively, inventive Brits have come up with a different way of putting the former Prime Minister’s book to good use. And we don’t mean by reading it.
A Sainsbury’s shopper recently shared a photo of the ex-PM’s book, titled Unleashed, on display. Instead of being in the books aisle, a cheeky customer had moved it to be beside the loo roll.
The implication? The pages of the £15 memoir would make for a great alternative to toilet paper.
And it’s fair to say people are very amused by the suggestion. On X, the uploader laughed: “Someone with a sense of humour in Sainsbury, Newport.”
Critics of Boris were quick to comment that the book was “appropriately” placed in the supermarket. “Exactly where he belongs,” one person commented on the viral tweet, whilst another quipped: “Best use for it.”
Others shared their own experiences of finding the book in unexpected places, meanwhile. “I saw his book in a stand advertising Halloween treats which made me smile,” said another X user.
Further images surfaced in the replies hilariously showing ‘Unleashed’ alongside Martina Cole’s ‘Guilty’, James Paterson’s ‘Lies He Told Me’, and even the children’s favourite, Peppa Pig’s Surprise Party.
Boris’ backers, however, claimed it was a case of any publicity is good publicity for the memoir. A commenter pointed out: “The amount of free publicity you guys are giving his book, not wonder it’s riding the top of the bestseller list still.”
On second thoughts, we’ll stick to the Andrex!
