On Thursday, October 24, the Municipality of Cap-Haitien took a key step in its tourism development strategy by officially launching the Table de Concertation Communale (Table de Concertation Communale – TCC). https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43479-haiti-cap-haitien-promotion-of-the-tourism-sector.html , an initiative that aims to strengthen collaboration between local, national and international stakeholders, focusing on sustainable tourism in Cap-Haïtien.
This event, held at the Hôtel Roi Christophe, brought together representatives of local organizations, academics from the North region, investors, development experts and community organizations.
Together, they reflected on the challenges of the destination and the actions to be taken to position Cap-Haïtien as a leading tourist destination.
The highlight of the day was the signing of a strategic partnership between the National Port Authority and the City of Cap-Haïtien. This agreement, which strengthens cooperation between these two institutions, marks a decisive turning point for the development of the city’s port infrastructure. This partnership is structured around four strategic axes :
– Improving transport and traffic;
– Sustainable development and management of the coastline;
– Strengthening safety and security;
– Improving the port’s service roads.
During her opening speech, Ms. Yvrose Pierre, President (Mayor) of the Municipal Commission, stressed the importance of a long-term vision to sustainably transform the city. “Transforming Cap-Haïtien with a long-term vision means projecting our territory over the next 30 years and launching major projects that will meet the needs of our population, those of today, but also those of tomorrow,” reaffirming the city’s commitment to undertake projects that will support economic growth and improve the living conditions of the population with the support of the central government and the Municipality’s partners.
The launch of the TCC marks the beginning of a new era for Cap-Haïtien. Tourism, as a major economic lever, is now at the heart of the city’s development efforts, and this collective initiative symbolizes the desire to restore Cap-Haïtien to the place it deserves on the international scene.
