Marvel enthusiasts will have to mark their calendars for a bit of a wait, as Spider-Man 4 has secured a release date set for July 24, 2026.
The much-awaited movie is slated to premiere a little over two months following the release of Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to hit screens on May 1, 2026.
Tom Holland is confirmed to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the fourth instalment, with real-life girlfriend Zendaya returning as his on-screen partner MJ.
In a recent chat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland let some details slip about the upcoming production schedule. He shared, “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go – we’re nearly there. Super exciting. I can’t wait!”
Holland has donned the Spider-Man suit in three standalone movies: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He also featured in the ensemble cast of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
Jon Watts directed the previous three Spider-Man films, but Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to take the directorial reins for the upcoming chapter, reports the Express.
Spider-Man: No Way Home broke several records when it was released in 2021, grossing over $1.9 billion globally on a budget of $200 million. It outperformed its predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which had a respectable haul of $1.133 billion in 2019.
The film not only became the top-grossing movie of 2021 but also climbed to the sixth spot in the all-time highest-grossing films list at the time of its release.
The latest Spider-Man film not only set records for releases during the COVID-19 pandemic but also became the franchise’s highest-grossing movie.
Marvel enthusiasts have been swamping Reddit with their reactions since the release date was announced.
A fan commented: “So this guy is gonna have an avengers movie, a Spider-Man movie and a Nolan movie all out in the same year. Is this going to be the first time in history an actor grosses over $4 billion in 1 year?”
Another remarked: “You know something, tom Holland will be the 3rd superhero actor to have 4 solo movies playing the same character.”
Meanwhile, another user pointed out: “It’s worth noting that Christopher Nolan’s next movie is scheduled for the week before and also features Tom Holland in a leading role.”
Spider Man 4 releases in cinemas on 24th July, 2026.
