PASS CHRISTIAN (GG) — Author Lauren Groff brought in hundreds of readers and several dignitaries to listen about her several writings, but also discuss her novel, The Vaster Wilds, which was the book for the 2024 One Book One Pass Reading Project at the Randolph Center Tuesday evening, October 22, 2024.
“I think back in 2019 when I was home and was trying to convince my parents from me getting a job, I read Robinson Cruso, a phenomal work that is not a kids book (as the intent), but Daniel Defot was creating a microcosm for the whole ehtos,” said Groff about one of the classic novels that has helped inspire her work. Additionally, Groff claimed that having a large amount of work helps manage her writing style.
Groff’s novel discussed a survival mode of a young girl lost in the wildnerness subjected to colonialism.
While being a three time National Book Award Finalist, Groff has been awarded for her short stories. After discussion about the novel concluded, a question and answer session followed by book signings.
