GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – For only a dime, you can purchase a book to support the Alachua County Library. People with the friends of the library said this is the largest book sale of its kind in the state.
With more than 60 different collections, book lovers brought boxes and shopping carts to load up on new reading material. Organizers said more than 700 people were waiting to get into the book sale on the first day.
“Over the last 70 years, and we’ve been doing this for 70 years. {During that time} we have raised {more than} $5 million which we’ve contributed to the library district,” said Susan Morris, Alachua County Friends of the Library Publicist.
Morris said whatever books were not sold Wednesday will be donated to Alachua County nonprofits Thursday morning.
