The Brunei Book Festival 2024 continued to draw enthusiastic crowds, with students and the public filling the Indoor Stadium for the annual event.
Held in celebration of the Language Month, the festival aimed to spark a love of reading, build appreciation for literary arts and inspire a culture of knowledge-sharing across the community.
The Bulletin spoke to teachers who brought their students to the event, gathering their thoughts on the festival’s impact. Teacher Mashani from the Lambak Kanan Jalan 49 Primary School shared, “Today, we brought around 60 students to the Brunei Book Festival.
“This year’s festival is similar to previous ones, and it’s a wonderful way to ignite students’ interest in reading and broaden their knowledge with new materials.” She suggested that future festivals be held in a larger venue with an expanded selection of books, making it more comfortable for visitors.
Meanwhile, teacher Nur Aqilah from St Andrew’s School said, “We brought 120 students today, and another group will be visiting tomorrow. Each year, we hope this event instils a love for reading and an appreciation for creative writing in our students.”
She also expressed her wish for more interactive activities and games to engage young readers, along with a bigger venue to reduce crowding.
The festival runs until November 11, inviting readers of all ages to explore and celebrate the world of books. – James Kon
