Morocco expects to draw a record one million British tourists this year as carriers raise capacity to the North African country.
Numbers are projected to rise by 23% over 2023 with more airline connectivity from 14 UK airports.
Jet2 will operate 17 weekly flights to destinations across Morocco throughout its winter 2024-25 schedule.
Global tourism numbers are set to grow by almost 18% year-on-year to top 13 million, according to the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
That figure is forecast to grow to 17.5 million by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, when the country co-hosts the World Cup together with Spain and Portugal.
Morocco is forecasting a 46.8% rise in hotel numbers in Marrakech by 2030 over this year and a 35.7% increase in Agadir for the same period.
The tourist office is also setting its sights on destinations beyond Marrakech, through its ‘Kingdom of Light’ campaign.
UK, Ireland and Nordics director Meryem Bennouna said: “Marking a significant milestone in the recovery and growth of our tourist sector, we are incredibly proud to have surpassed 2023 visitor numbers by the end of the third quarter of 2024.
“As investment in Morocco grows and accessibility improves, with more flights than ever before, we can’t wait to showcase the beauty of our country to more British travellers.”
