Harold and the Purple Crayon—a summer family movie bust starring Zachary Levi—has found a big audience on Netflix.
A big screen adaptation of Crockett Johnson’s 1955 classic children’s book of the same name, Harold and the Purple Crayon opened in theaters on August 2.
The official summary for the film reads, “Inside of his book, adventurous Harold (Levi) can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life—and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hilarious hijinks than he thought possible.
“When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own.”
Rated PG, Harold and the Purple Crayon also stars Zooey Deschanel, Lil Rel Howery, Jemaine Clement, Alfred Molina and Benjamin Bottani.
According to Netflix, Harold and the Purple Crayon debuted at No. 8 on the streamer’s U.S. Top 10 Movies chart for the week of October 28-November 3. The film made its streaming video on demand debut on Netflix on October 31.
Unlike the streamer’s Top 10 Global Movies chart, the U.S. charts do not reveal the number of views or hours viewed.
