A wedding specialist group has revealed that one of its South Wales venues will be redeveloped into a five-star tourism destination in 2026.
The Oldwalls Collection said that one of its Gower venues, Oldwalls Gower, will no longer perform weddings.
The group said the change will allow it to focus on its two flagship wedding venues, Fairyhill and Sant Ffraed House, while Oldwalls Gower redevelops to appeal to a new market.
Until 2026, it will be business as usual, with Oldwalls Gower vowing to host its 2025 weddings.
The venue will then re-emerge as a luxury tourism destination to satisfy the staycation market. It will serve as overspill accommodation for wedding guests of Fairyhill, as well as other venues in the popular wedding destination area.
Couples who have set the date at Oldwalls Gower for 2026 and beyond will be offered the opportunity to move their date forward at Oldwalls into 2025, a cost freeze and switch to Fairyhill, as well as options to switch to Sant Ffraed House or receive a full refund. With Fairyhill located just minutes from Oldwalls, Fairyhill is forecasted to absorb the majority of the transfers.
Andrew Hole, managing director, said: “We are conscious of the impact this decision may have on our lovely couples and hope that by providing over 18 months’ notice, they will have the time to carefully consider the several options we are providing.”
He added: “We injected Oldwalls Gower’s award-winning formula into Fairyhill and Sant Ffraed House to create arguably the best wedding venues in Wales, and we are excited to plough further investment and expertise into the continued success of them both. With our two newer venues soaring, the time has come to diversify Oldwalls Gower’s offering and explore new opportunities for our founding location.”
