Netflix fans have been blown away by its latest holiday rom-com, Hot Frosty.
The film was released on the streaming giant earlier this week and it seems viewers can’t get enough of it, despite many describing the story as “unhinged.” Hot Frosty features Lacey Chabert as Kathy, a widow who magically brings a snowman (played by Dustin Milligan) to life and quickly falls in love with him.
The movie has already reached the Top 1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 movies and people have flocked to social media to share their thoughts. “So silly, but absolutely adorable. I loved it. #HotFrosty,” one fan wrote on X.
Another viewer shared their shock at rooting for a snowman as the hero of the film, writing, “Watched hot frosty on netflix yesterday + the joy i felt from the sheer ridiculousness of it is everything i want in a holiday rom-com. the fact we’re all rooting for lacey to fall in love with a SNOWMAN is UNHINGED! 5 stars!”

A third person shared similar sentiments, “#HotFrosty is so unhinged. They even make A Christmas Prince and Mean Girls reference.” A fourth viewer gushed, “Such a good film!”
Someone else joked, “This movie is terrible. I love it. #HotFrosty,” while another said, “Me: I’m not sure I’m ready for the holidays. Also me: I think I’ll watch #HotFrosty tonight.”
As well as Lacey and Dustin, Hot Frosty stars Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Joe Lo Truglio and The Office’s Craig Robinson. NCIS star Lauren Holly is also in the movie, as well as Katy Mixon (Eastbound & Down).

Lacey recently described the film as “deeply emotional.” Speaking to Tudum, she said, “It’s really funny and light and lovely. But there is also a through line of a lot of heart, and all of these characters are kind of going through something — whether it’s something more comedic or something more deeply emotionally rooted. I think this movie has a very special tone to it.”
The film had a few hurdles during production, with Dustin only signing on to join the cast two weeks before they started shooting. He admitted that he wasn’t originally sold on the idea when he saw the title, but quickly changed his mind after reading the script.
“When I saw that it was called Hot Frosty… needless to say, I had some reservations. But as soon as I started reading, I was struck by how much more it was than what that title makes you think it’s going to be,” he told Decider.
The actor added, “And I was immediately excited for the prospect of physical comedy—to embody, physically, this guy who is so literally brand new to the world and experiencing everything for the very first time. The sense of wonder, excitement, and earnestness that he has.”
