Northern New City Tourism Development Pte Limited has embarked on a multi-million-dollar tourism development project at Korovatu, Labasa.
The site located closer to Korovatu picnic spot, looking over Mali Island and Malau was visited by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Communications Manoa Kamikamica on Thursday.
Northern New City Tourism Development Pte Limited manager director Ma Xianlin is a tourism developer in China.
After his first visit to Fiji as a tourist in 2018 he bought the 151-acre land in 2022.
He thanked Investment Fiji for their guidance and support.
“We spent about $5 million on the initial stages which includes the upgrading of the site since we planned to build hotel, resort, guest house, cantilever swimming pool, mini cable car, mountain top steps and other tourism related development to bring more creative activities,” Mr Xianlin said.
“We began working on this project last year and it will be done in stages which will take us around five years to complete.”
He said there was lot of work to be done to make this multi-million-dollar tourism attraction project in Vanua Levu.
Mr Kamikamica told Mr Xianlin that he was very impressed with the initial stages of the project.
“Located above the sea level at a greater height providing beautiful view for the tourists and locals were exceptional,” Mr Kamikamica said.
“I am really happy to note that the people of the North will get to experience the overseas lifestyle of tourism attraction activities.”
He advised Mr Xianlin to reach out to the Government and his ministry should he need any help.
