Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism, Delano Seiveright, says the Iberostar Hotel in Rose Hall, St. James, remains open.
This follows a protest by workers at the entrance to the property on Friday.
They’re reportedly protesting poor working conditions and low wages.
Mr. Seiveright says representatives of the Ministry are meeting with the staff and management of the property to find practical and fair solutions for all.
The workers were seen bearing placards that read, “Better pay” and “More money to work.”
It’s the latest in a string of protests by hotel workers in recent weeks.
Mr. Seiveright says the workers are the backbone of Jamaica’s tourism industry and play a vital role in its success.
He says the ministry remains committed to working collaboratively to strike a balance.
