BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -A special guest made an appearance at a Bryan church Friday.
The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Brazos Valley hosted a banned book giveaway and dance party.
Daniel Handler, also known by his writer alias “Lemony Snicket”, came to Bryan for the event.
Handler is best known for his children’s book series A Series of Unfortunate Events and All the Wrong Questions.
“We are giving away free books that have been banned in America off and on over history to make the point that everything should be on the shelves, all books should be welcome and people should read what they want and believe what they want,” Handler said.
People were invited to come out for tacos, drinks, free banned books, and dancing.
“People should read what they want and believe what they want and find solace excitement and even dread in books they pick up,” Handler said.
