MIFFLINTOWN — The Friends of the Juniata County Library want to end the year with a bang, holding a one-time sale featuring books for young adults.
To promote reading among young people – and to reduce their inventory – the Friends are selling bags of books for young adults for only $5, which is $2 less than their usual bag sale price.
The sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, at the Juniata County Library, located at 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown.
“Thanks to some generous donors, the Friends have an abundance of young adult fiction and non-fiction books – too many to shelve,” explained Friends of the Juniata County Library Publicity Chairperson Virginia Haubert.
Of course, books for adults can be purchased too, but they are being sold at the regular price of $7 per bag. There will also be jigsaw puzzles available at $3 each, along with some gift baskets left over from the October sale. “Which would make great Christmas gifts,” Haubert added.
“The Friends think this book sale will be a good way for mothers and children to spend the time on deer lonely Monday.” Haubert said. “If the kids are hunting, come to the sale to stock up on early presents for your teens.”
While this might be the last book sale of 2024, the Friends’ Book Cellar will remain open through the holidays from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, when the library is open. Any unsold baskets will be available along with jigsaw puzzles, CDs, DVDs and magazines.
All proceeds from the Friends’ fundraising efforts support the Juniata County Library.
