TEBEDU (Nov 17): Accommodation facilities will soon be built at Gunung Silabur near Serian, announced Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada.
He revealed an allocation of RM5 million under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has been approved for the project.
He explained that the facility aims to attract tourists from within and outside Sarawak to visit Gunung Silabur in Kampung Lobang Batu, known for its scenic Silabur Cave and as the venue of the increasingly popular Silabur Ultra Trail.
“Ginung Silabur is the only tourism product that is quite popular in the Tebedu constituency and this project is under the allocation of GKCDA.
“With the availability of road facilities and comfortable accommodation, it is hoped that we will be able to further increase the tourism industry in Kampung Lobang Batu,” he said when closing an event here yesterday.
He also announced the area of Bung Sadung in Kampung Taee will be developed with tourism facilities, with an estimated allocation of RM21 million.
“This project is currently still at the documentation stage by the Serian Public Works Department (JKR) and it is hoped that the handover of the project site will be carried out in 2025.
“This project will be located in Kampung Taee, Serian and will be able to provide employment opportunities to the local population,” he said.
