The Wyoming Cowboys raced to their third win of the season Saturday night in Laramie, posting an 86-69 win over Utah Tech. The Pokes, now 3-1 on the season, built a 14-point lead by the end of the first half, 42-28.
“It was the tale of two halve for us tonight,” UW head coach Sundance Wicks said postgame. “I thought the response was decent enough. I thought, at times, we did not impose our will tonight. Sometimes, you have to get the player to see what that looks like. I thought the first half we got there and the second half we wilted a little bit. We got a response we wanted but just didn’t finish the job.” The Cowboys outscored the visiting Trailblazers by only three points in the second half, 44-41.
The Cowboys shot 50 percent from the field on the night led by Kobe Newton’s career high 19 points. Obi Agbim, UW’s leading scorer for the season, added 12 points. He has scored in double figures and all four Pokes games this season. Jordan Nesbitt also scored in double figures with 12 points.
