Billy Lee “Bill” Nutter, 92, of Good Hope, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
On September 19, 1951, Bill married the love of his life, Barbara Ellen Dobbins. Together they shared the joys of marriage for over 73 years and she will miss him dearly.
Forever cherishing their memories of Bill are his wife, Barbara Nutter of Good Hope; three daughters: Deborah Miller and husband, Dana, of Marshville, Dawn Currey and husband, Ralph, of Snowshoe, and Jill Steele and husband, Tom, of Bridgeport; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Nutter of Good Hope; thirteen grandchildren: Ryan, Deanne, Tina, Tish, Eric, Brittany, Christopher, Lauren, Sara, Megan, Rocco, Caitlin, and Courtney; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Bill spent his life in his beloved home state, dedicating his time and energy to his family, his business, and his community. He was a proud owner and operator of the West Fork Inn in Good Hope while also serving as a bus driver for the Harrison County Board of Education. After closing the West Fork Inn, Bill worked at Ace Hardware in Bridgeport. He was a man of many passions. Bill was a woodworker, a car enthusiast, and he always enjoyed a good firm handshake. His friendly nature was evident in the joy he found in waving to every passer-by from his front porch. Bill was a devoted member of the Horizons Church in Lost Creek, living his life by the verse from Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.” This verse encapsulated Bill’s spirit and his commitment to community, love, and faith.
