Kangana Ranaut‘s next big release in Emergency. The political drama is based on the darkest subject of India’s political history – Emergency. She plays the role of India’s former Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi in the film. Emergency was slated to release in the theatres on September 6, however, it ran into trouble with censor board. As the film did not get clearance from the CBFC, the film’s release got postponed. Finally, the makers have now officially announced the new release date of the film.
Emergency finally gets a new release date
Emergency is written and directed by Kangana Ranaut herself. She also plays the lead. The actress took to her social media account to announce the next release date. Emergency will now hit the theatres on January 17, 2025. It has been moved to next year and will be among the first few films of 2025 to hit the theatres. Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman and others are going to play pivotal roles in the film. It was last month that Emergency got a clearance from CBFC. The movie has been reportedly granted U/A certificate while the makers have been asked to bring about a few changes to the film. Reportedly, many Sikh organizations have called for the ban of the film. However, now CBFC has given a clean chit to the film and it is all set to release in January 2025.
It is anticipated that the political drama will create quite a stir and draw footfalls to the theatres. Emergency is produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films and Renu Pitti. The musical score is by Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar. The dialogues and screenplay crafted by the acclaimed Ritesh Shah.
