Independent bookstore RJ Julia Booksellers has expanded its reach to air travelers. The bookstore recently installed a vending machine at Tweed New Haven Airport, offering a selection of books for purchase, according to a CT Insider report.
“The idea for the kiosk came from wanting to reach a broader audience,” Lori Fazio, president of RJ Julia Booksellers, told the news outlet. “We have things that we think people will really love, that they might either want to read to distract themselves on a plane or to bring with them to a destination.”
The vending machine, manufactured by AmeriKiosks, provides a convenient way for travelers to pick up a book before boarding their flight. The bookstore is closely monitoring sales data to determine which titles are most popular with airport customers.
As the holiday travel season approaches, RJ Julia Booksellers plans to increase the frequency of restocking the vending machine to meet the expected demand.
