Richmond city council is considering cancelling the business licence of the Hazelbridge Way location of Tokyo Beauty after a fifth Health Canada warning that the company, Nagoya Trading, has been selling unauthorized products.
City council gave the Westminster Highway location of the same business a 90-day suspension last year after some of the products on their shelves were found to contain codeine, an opioid.
Since then, there have been two more public health advisories related to Tokyo Beauty, specifically at the Hazelbridge location.
A March 27 advisory warned skin-lightening and skin treatment products being sold at the business’ Hazelbridge Way location contained prescription, controlled or over-the-counter ingredients.
Three products were seized in this fifth incident: Hadalabo Pearl Barley Face Wash, which contained aminocaproic acid, Mentholatum Mediquick Eczema Rash Anti-Itch Ointment, which contained prednisolone valerate acetate, and Fair Acne Cream, which contained ibuprolen piconol 3%.
City council will consider cancelling the business licence on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. at a special city council meeting.
