Florida is bracing for a record-breaking Thanksgiving travel season, with millions of residents and tourists expected to hit the roads and skies.
According to AAA Auto Club, a staggering 4.5 million Floridians are planning to travel over 50 miles for the holiday. While most will be driving, airports across the state are also anticipating increased passenger traffic.

“As you can imagine, people are just looking to escape the cold,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said this week, adding that Florida “is the perfect place to do it.”
The busiest travel days are predicted to be Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, as well as the Sunday following the holiday.
Florida’s warm weather and popular destinations, such as Miami and Orlando, have made it a top choice for Thanksgiving travelers.

As for fuel prices, Floridians are currently paying an average of $3.12 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, a slight increase from last year.
To avoid heavy traffic, travelers are advised to avoid driving during peak hours, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
