GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) – As the holidays inch closer, there are numerous holiday markets happening across the Commonwealth.
On Saturday, one small business owner decided to host one of her own, except she wanted to highlight a different demographic of small business owners.
Kids with crafts were set up inside Classic Spaces in Georgetown.
The business’ owner and event organizer Kimberly Moody said she’s excited to help kids put themselves and their talents out there in this way.
“I think the younger that they start making things and doing things or just learning about the whole entrepreneurship market and things, like that is really good for them to grow up into,” Moody said.
The market showcased items from small kids to teens, with the oldest being high schooler Brooklynn Perkins, who sells 3D printed items.
“These are, we call them ‘Aldi Quarters.’ Most people don’t carry change with them whenever they go to Aldi’s or any other place that requires change to grab a cart, so I came up with a design to mimic the quarter, but its a key chain,” Perkins said.
Also set up there was 13-year-old Lauren Marcum, who said she’s been selling Elf on the Shelf clothing and other handmade items for a while now.
“Its just really cool to finally be able to show everything I’ve been working on for a while and have an opportunity to show people what I enjoy doing,” Marcum said.
Moody said investing in the young people within her community has been the most rewarding part in all of this.
“It warms my heart and its so wonderful to see all of them here, and to see them so excited about what they’ve worked so hard for,” Moody said.
This was the first Young Entrepreneurship Market Moody has hosted, but she plans to host more in the future.
