Tourism Australia has paid tribute to ex-CMO Lisa Ronson after the marketing executive died in a tragic accident on her farm this weekend.
The 52-year-old died after losing control of the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) she was driving at her farm near Daylesford on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called to the property in Ullina but unfortunately, Ronson could not be saved.
Ronson has held the top marketing job at some of Australia’s biggest companies including Coles, Tourism Australia, and, most recently, Medibank.
During her time at Tourism Australia, Ronson led the marketing team to numerous Cannes Lions awards, including much acclaim for the famous Dundee campaign by Droga5 and starring Chris Hemsworth and Danny McBride.
She led Coles’ marketing team through the pandemic, starting at the grocer in April 2019 and departing in May last year.
Tourism Australia, where she worked between 2015-2019, released a statement today on LinkedIn, thanking Ronson for her work whilst at the tourism body.
“Yesterday we received the shocking and sad news that we lost our ex-CMO Lisa Ronson after she was involved in an accident on her beloved farm, Vale Hill House in Daylesford,” it said.
“Lisa was our CMO from 2015-2019 and was a transformational leader at Tourism Australia. During her tenure, Lisa oversaw the aquatic and coastal campaign, including signing Chris Hemsworth as an ambassador, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, our award-winning WHM campaign, Aussie News Today and the fantastic Un-discover Australia campaign in SSEA. But of course, her most high profile work was certainly the Dundee Superbowl campaign.
“Lisa moved to Coles as CMO after Tourism Australia and had recently joined Medibank. She was a prolific contributor to the marketing industry and passionate about great culture, great people and great work.
“Our thoughts, love and support are with Lisa’s husband Chris, her son Ben, and her friends and colleagues throughout the tourism and marketing industry.”
Lisa is survived by her husband Chris and son Ben. Travel Weekly offers its sincere condolences to all those who knew Lisa.
