A website selling books for £1 or under was launched today by Books2Door founder Abdul Thadha.
According to Thadha, the online bookshop saveonbooks.com is “a response to the cost-of-living crisis and the decline in reading for pleasure in the UK”.
It stocks fiction and non-fiction titles, including bundles of 10 books for £10.
Thadha said: “Our aim is to show customers that books really don’t have to be expensive and inaccessible. We have picked some fantastic titles and worked really hard with our buying and marketing departments to bring a vast selection of books that customers can access at the reach of their fingertips.
“What would be great to see is a shift in perception. Some of our book sets contain eight or even ten titles, and these can be split up among children, between friends as a gift, or to encourage more reading for pleasure. In fact, we really encourage people to do this and maximise the bargains if it gets more people reading!”
Thadha launched Books2Door in 2004 starting out selling remaindered books on eBay. It specialises in discounted books and box sets.
In July, Books2Door announced its half-year results, with total sales for second-quarter fiscal 2024 at £2.7m, representing growth of 38% compared with the same period in 2023.
