Itanagar, Nov 28: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu reiterated the state government’s focus on promoting sustainable and eco-friendly tourism to attract both domestic and international visitors. Speaking at the inaugural session of the 12th International Tourism Mart (ITM) in Kaziranga, Assam, Khandu highlighted the state’s vision to position itself as a premier global tourism destination, known for its rich natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure offerings.
Khandu outlined plans to improve tourism infrastructure, enhance connectivity, and develop iconic trekking routes, trails, and festivals to cater to diverse travelers. He also emphasized empowering local communities through initiatives like homestays and skill development. The state’s diverse ecosystems are central to its tourism strategy, with an emphasis on responsible tourism that balances economic growth with environmental and cultural preservation.
The Chief Minister concluded that the goal is not only to increase tourism numbers but to ensure long-term benefits for the local economy, protect cultural heritage, and safeguard the environment for future generations.
