November 28, (THEWILL) – The Director General of the Ekiti State Tourism Bureau, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, has been honoured with the Long Service Award in Nigeria Tourism Development and Promotion by the National Tourism Transportation Summit.
This prestigious recognition, set to be presented in Abuja on December 4, 2024, celebrates Ojo-Lanre’s remarkable three-decade commitment to advancing Nigeria’s tourism industry.
The nomination letter, signed by the President of the NTTS, Abiodun Ogunsanwo, highlights Ojo-Lanre’s impactful contributions to the sector both locally and internationally.
A veteran in tourism and media, Ojo-Lanre brings an impressive academic and professional background to his role.
He holds degrees in History Education, a Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies, and diplomas in Green Growth and Travelism as well as Journalism.
He is also a Barrister-at-Law and a seasoned journalist, serving as Associate Editor for Tourism, Travel, and Hospitality at Nigerian Tribune (currently on a leave of absence).
He has also consistently placed Nigeria’s tourism potential on the global map.
He has represented the country at international tourism events, including the London Travel Market, ITB Berlin, IMEX Frankfurt, and South Africa’s Indaba.
His extensive travels, spanning 68 countries and numerous Nigerian national parks, underscore his advocacy for the nation’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
Ojo-Lanre’s distinguished career includes serving as Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Segun Oni, Director General of the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, and Senior Special Assistant on Tourism Development to Governor Kayode Fayemi.
The NTTS Long Service Award underscores his enduring commitment to tourism growth in Nigeria—a mission he has pursued with relentless passion and excellence.
