The Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 W. Main Street, is gearing up for community activities catering to book lovers of all ages. As the holiday season approaches, the library has announced a special schedule, which includes closing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and remaining closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a statement released by the City of Lewisville.
After resuming regular operations, the library is set to host the “Zine Scene” on Wednesday, Dec. 4, where participants can creatively make their fanzines. This event takes place from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Crawford Meeting Room and requires prior registration. While the library will provide necessary supplies, attendees can bring their pictures and magazines to personalize their creations further.
For younger patrons or those young at heart, the library has planned a “Teddy Bear Sleepover,” where children can leave their stuffed animals overnight at the library for a host of imaginary adventures. The sleepover drop-off is scheduled for Dec. 6, between 3-4:45 p.m., with the pick-up arranged for the following day from 11 a.m. to noon in the Bennett Program Room. The event does not require tickets or registration.
Book enthusiasts can expand their collections during the Friends of the Library Book Sale Pre-Sale. This exclusive event takes place on Dec. 6, from 4-7 p.m. in the Glenmore Savage Community Room, offering early access to a vast selection of gently used books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and more, with items priced from 25 cents to $5. Pre-sale admission is $5 per person, but members of the Friends of the Library, Lewisville ISD employees, and the City of Lewisville employees with ID enjoy free admission. All proceeds from the sale directly benefit the library, enabling it to enrich community services and collections further.
The Book Sale extends into Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., where the sale is free to the public. Like the pre-sale, the Saturday event occurs in the Glenmore Savage Community Room and promises deals on the same items.
