Montenegro-based Dr. Aleksandra Gardasevic-Slavuljica, a VP for the World Tourism Network, shared her views on innovation and opportunities in Tourism at Qatar Travel Mart 2024. QTM 2024 is currently taking place at the
Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), under the patronage of Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Like Saudi Arabia, Qatar also has a National Vision 2030, and sustainable tourism development is part of this vision.
This year’s event in Doha has been expanded to reflect Qatar’s rapid growth in tourism and its increasing importance on the global stage.
With Qatar Airways as a national carrier, an expanding global network, and increased competition, it becomes more important than ever for Qatar to concentrate on its travel and tourism exports.
Dr. Aleksandra Gardasevic-Slavuljica, a former Deputy Minister of Tourism in Montenegro and consultant in Alula, Saudi Arabia, was invited to join a prestigious group of experts who spoke at this high-profile tourism event.
Dr. Gardasevic-Slavuljica delivered a keynote speech yesterday entitled “Health and Wellness Tourism as Leaders of Sustainable Tourism Development.” Following her lecture, she participated in a panel discussion exploring global trends and medical and wellness tourism opportunities.
Aleksandra emphasized and discussed the status of women in tourism, how to enhance women’s participation in leadership positions, and how to provide them with the necessary support to run their own tourism businesses.
Health, Wellness, and Holistic tourism have been active interest groups for the World Tourism Network, which was launched at the organization’s 2023 summit in Bali, Indonesia.
The City of Duesseldorf, Germany, a champion for medical tourism in the world, joined WTN earlier this year at ITB Berlin.
Dr. Gardasevic-Slavuljica is one of the leading experts in tourism and sustainable development in WTN, along with Professor Geoffrey Lipman and the organization’s Vice Chairman, Dr. Taleb Rifai.
Earlier this week, WTN’s VP, Dr. Alain St. Ange, traveled to Kazakhstan to help that country expand its emerging travel and tourism industry.
