A trio of Christmas movies produced by Netflix are attracting big viewership on the streamer’s top 10 global movies chart.
The Hallmark Channel and Lifetime have traditionally cornered the market when it comes to tales of holiday romance, but in recent years Netflix has produced a few spicy Christmas movies of their own.
Currently, three Netflix holiday romance originals are on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies chart. Coming in at No. 1 for the week of November 18-24 is The Merry Gentleman, which had 14.7 million views for 21.6 million hours viewed in its first week of release.
Per Netflix, the logline for The Merry Gentlemen reads, “To save her parents’ small-town performing venue, a former big-city dancer decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue.”
The Merry Gentlemen stars Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray.
‘Hot Frosty’ And ‘Meet Me Next Christmas’ Also Are In Netflix Global Top 10
The Netflix original movie Hot Frosty—which debuted at No. 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 Chart the week of November 11-17—dropped to No. 2 the week of November 18-24 with 11.8 million views/20.8 million hours viewed.
The logline for Hot Frosty reads, “Two years after losing her husband, Kathy (Lacey Chabert) magically brings a handsome snowman (Dustin Milligan) to life! Through his naïveté, the snowman helps Kathy to laugh, feel and love again, as the two fall for each other just in time for the holidays…and before he melts.”
In addition, Meet Me Next Christmas, which debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies chart the week of November 4-10, took the No. 7 spot with 5.9 million views/10.4 million hours viewed.
The logline for Meet Me Next Christmas reads, In pursuit of a fairytale romance with the man of her dreams, Layla (Christina Milian) must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold-out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert.”
Meet Me Next Christmas also stars Devale Ellis, Mitch Grassi and Kofi Siriboe.
Another holiday romance movie sure to debut on the Netflix Global Top 10 chart next week is Our Little Secret, starring Lindsay Lohan in her third Netflix original movie following Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish.
Our Little Secret’s logline reads, “Two resentful exes are forced to spend Christmas under the same roof after discovering that their current partners are siblings.”
The film stars Lohan as Avery, while Ian Harding plays her ex-boyfriend, Logan.
