In the presence of the Secretary of Tourism, Governor Joaquin Díaz Mena stated that it is of utmost importance to work as a team between the federal and state governments and the private sector to achieve this goal.
The Federal Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that in Yucatán she will begin a new way of promoting the most important towns in the country, through the Community Towns Program, whose main objective is to promote the culture and gastronomy of those places that the president of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum calls “hidden gems.”
“There will not be more Magic Towns, but more community towns, where there will be participation with the same renown, the same weight. It will be a new distinctive and a new seal,” said the official shortly after explaining that the 132 Magical Towns of Mexico will be strengthened.
After holding a working meeting with Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and the tourism sector of Yucatán, Rodríguez Zamora said that instead of talking about violence, we must promote so many positive things that there are in Mexico.
The official, without mentioning details about the program, such as a possible budget, elaborated on the distinctive characteristics that will make Yucatán the first community town in the country.
Rodríguez Zamora said that Yucatán was chosen for its qualities that position it as a tourist reference at a national and international level.
The announcement took place at the Government Palace, where a meeting was held headed by Díaz Mena and the federal official with businessmen from the tourism sector to learn about proposals and establish strategies to strengthen recreational activity in the state.
The governor pointed out that tourism is a priority for his administration, highlighting the importance of a joint plan that promotes the arrival of national and international visitors interested in the gastronomic, cultural, and artisanal offerings of Yucatán.
The state leader said Secretary Rodríguez Zamora’s visit reaffirmed the federal government’s and the state’s commitment to continue positioning Yucatán as a leader in cultural and gastronomic tourism. The Community Town distinction is a key step in this objective.
