The Montserrat Tourism Authority (MTA) has appointed Nicole Fagan to the role of Product Development Officer.
An MTA release said Mrs. Fagan comes to the role with a distinguished background in sustainable community and cultural development. “Nicole brings a fresh vision to the MTA, aimed at creating tourism experiences that honor Montserrat’s unique heritage while fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship,” the statement read.
Fagan is a graduate of the University of Northampton and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Development. She is said to have gained a wealth of experience through her work in both Montserrat and the United Kingdom, particularly in initiatives that champion youth, community, and sports development. Her expertise in sustainable development and her deep commitment to cultural preservation are integral to her approach, which focuses on responsible tourism that benefits both local communities and visitors.
“Having returned to Montserrat in 2017 after several years in the UK, Nicole is driven by her desire to contribute meaningfully to her homeland. Her role at the MTA will involve developing and promoting authentic, sustainable tourism products that not only highlight Montserrat’s landscapes, sites and attractions but also celebrates the island’s vibrant traditions, local artisanship, and culinary heritage,” the release said.
Reflecting on her new role, Nicole shared, “I am very blessed and honored to be appointed as the Product Development Officer within The Montserrat Tourism Authority. My aim is to foster sustainable tourism that preserves the environment while celebrating Montserrat’s cultural identity. From our spectacular natural scenery to the authentic flavors of our local cuisine, I want to highlight what makes Montserrat unique. I hope to cultivate a deeper connection between our people and the natural habitat by promoting a more mindful and responsible approach to tourism.”
