At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, USA, Caliverse, the metaverse subsidiary of Lotte Innovate, engaged in significant discussions with global big tech companies to explore collaboration opportunities for market expansion and technological advancement. On Jan. 7 (local time), Kim Kyung-yeob, CEO of Lotte Innovate, and Kim Dong-gyu, CEO of Caliverse, met with Neil Trevitt, vice president of NVIDIA, to discuss the utilization of the cloud computing system “GeForce Now,” according to a statement released on Jan. 9.
The meeting focused on leveraging GeForce Now, a cloud gaming service by NVIDIA that allows users to experience high-quality services regardless of device performance. This collaboration is expected to significantly increase user accessibility to the Caliverse platform, which was previously criticized for being usable only on high-spec PCs. With GeForce Now, Caliverse can now be easily accessed on general PCs and mobile devices, broadening its user base.
Caliverse is also planning to release an immersive entertainment content application in the first half of 2025 in collaboration with Meta, formerly known as Facebook. This partnership underscores Caliverse’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies and platforms to enhance its metaverse offerings. Additionally, Caliverse has signed an exclusive business agreement with Whitestone, the developer of the world’s first dome glass film for smartphones and 3D dedicated film. This partnership will see the supply of new 3D films compatible with Caliverse’s AI application that converts general video content into 3D. Both companies plan to release a film and dedicated app in the first half of 2025 that allows users to view video content in a vivid 3D format by simply attaching a dedicated protective film to general smartphones or tablet PCs.
A representative from Caliverse stated, “In addition to the aforementioned companies, we are discussing collaboration with global companies such as Apple and SoftBank during the CES period,” and added, “We plan to cooperate in various business areas to expand metaverse services.”
The metaverse represents a significant shift in how digital and physical worlds interact, with companies like Caliverse investing heavily in its development. Lotte Innovate, a subsidiary of the major South Korean conglomerate Lotte Group, has positioned Caliverse to develop and expand metaverse-related technologies and services. The collaboration with NVIDIA, a leading technology company known for its graphics processing units (GPUs) and AI technologies, is a strategic move to enhance user accessibility and experience.
