Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, says the industry is on track to achieve ambitious growth this year, following an increase in visitor arrivals and earnings in 2024.
According to Minister Bartlett, Jamaica earned over US $4billion from the tourism industry in 2024.
He was speaking on Thursday at the Sandals Resorts International’s 2025 Global Sales meeting.
The 2024 end-of-year figures represent increases of 5.3 percent in visitor arrivals and 3.3 percent in earnings compared to 2023.
Minister Bartlett says this growth was achieved despite challenges such as travel advisories, severe weather events and airlift restrictions over two quarters.
The Minister says the industry was on the verge of achieving its 5 by 5 by 5 growth strategy when the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out global travel.
However, he says the country is back on track to meeting the target.
