The film boasts a stellar supporting cast including Brenda Blethyn, Donald Sutherland, Rosamund Pike, Judi Dench and Carey Mulligan. The romantic drama was a box office hit, grossing $121.6 million from a budget of $28 million.
It was well-received by critics and fans alike, with many praising Keira’s performance. The film earned numerous accolades, including four nominations at the 78th Academy Awards, with Keira, then 20, becoming the third-youngest Best Actress nominee at the time, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The film also took home the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer for newcomer Joe Wright. His career has since flourished with outstanding movies such as Atonement, Hanna, and The Woman in the Window.
Pride and Prejudice has been celebrated by fans for two decades, boasting a 7.8 score on IMDb and an impressive 87% on Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, alongside an 89% audience approval on the Popcornmeter.
